Sadly, I spent most of the day playing "two dots." While waiting for my lives to regenerate I read book one of "Call the Midwife." At 11:00 p.m. I decided to do something more productive and dug out this quilt that I started four years ago in a class with Ami Simms and I sewed on the last two rows. I had planned to give it to my son Jack (because I cut up his favorite shirt when I needed a plaid fabric with turquoise and orange for the pinwheels), but after looking at it there might be too many floral fabrics in it for a boy just off to college.
Yeah, piecing! My favorite type of quilting! I love the pop of orange in the center. Are you ripping through Call the Midwife? I am about half way through The Last Runaway, and I am really enjoying it. Sigh, school started last Monday, so my lazy days of reading, quilting, and exploring with the kids are done. Enjoy your last rats of summer!

@laurielizard Haha! I am a terrible piecer -- even though I do love pieced quilts. I have been working on this one for four years! I am loving Call the Midwife, but I have an upstairs book (Lucky You by Carl Hiassen) and a downstairs book (Midwife), so it's not going fast! My two boys have both been dropped off at their respective colleges (bittersweet) and I have one flex day left this week and another week of meetings before school starts (the day after Labor Day). My daughter and I have been alternating laying around the house with babysitting (her) and having lunch with friends (me). It's hard getting used to the quiet, but I'm filling up the silence with the sound of my sewing machine! Not yet ready for school! Hope your first days back have been not too stressful!
