For the past week I've been making reading "tickets" for school staff to record what they are reading. We put the tickets in the hallway near our doors so everyone who comes in the building can see that we don't just tell kids to read, we ourselves read. Here's a shocker . . . I don't actually have to finish them until Literacy-Math night in October. I'm trying to mend my procrastinating ways.
Super cute! I am always surprised by the number of educators who don't read for fun. It is sad. 'I don't have time' seems like an excuse. I have a time consuming job, three kids, numerous extracurricular activities, a large extended family, and church activities. However I still get through a book a week! If I didn't read, I don't think I would be able to sleep. Literature is what settles me down for the evening.
