studying and quilting

I started graduate school today then spent the afternoon with my friend Marianne at Suzzie's buying fabric. My oldest son buys most of his clothes from thrift stores. He wanted me to make him a quilt from old Hawaiian shirts, but I haven't been able to find many cotton ones, so I'm going with some tropical-patterned batiks and a few Kaffee Fassett fabrics. Hoped to have it finished for his birthday (in December), which we celebrate in January (because it's too close to Christmas). We are going to see him tomorrow. Don't think the quilt will be finished.
What are you going back to school for? Good and brave for you! I cant wait to see your quilt!

You know, I picked up some vintage (well, the receipt said 1980) Hawaiian fabric at Goodwill last summer. The receipt was folded in the fabric, and it was from a fabric shop in Hawaii. One piece was the blue and white, and one was a brown background with a large four leaf appliqué started (just wondered undered, no stitches). If you want these I'd love to give them to you for your project. The appliqué is way beyond my comfort zone. E mail me: laurielizard@gmail.com
