after school

It's been our first week without a snow day or a two-hour delay in 7 weeks. I can barely make it.
I literally JUST read an article about Harper Lee and there were some quotes from the author of this book, which I'd never heard of before. What are the odds that it would be the first picture in my 365 feed?

Enjoy your warm up! I see you're getting ready for the release of the new Harper Lee book! I can't wait either!

@margonaut That's funny because I had put the book on hold in Overdrive months ago but it never came in. My son mentioned that she had written a new book and there was some controversy about it and then when I went to the library the biography was sitting on the fortunate find table. And when I went to the used bookstore there was a huge display. I didn't know she had written a new book. The biography is good but seems guarded maybe? She certainly got to know the Lee sisters very well. Im only about halfway through though.

@laurielizard Have you read this biography? It's good but I feel like she's either leaving things out or hi tin at things Harper Lee didn't want her to say. I'm enjoying it though and excited for the new book.

@laurielizard That was supposed to be "hinting" not "hi tin". Silly phone.

I haven't read this book yet. Harper Lee is a very curious person. I always have questions when I read things written about her. To Kill A Mockingbird was the first 'grown up' book I ever read, and I loved it! (I was 13). I am hoping that the new one is just as wonderful and won't tarnish To Kill A Mockingbird for me. That happened with A Prayer for Owen Meany. I loved that book! I read five other John Irving books, but never found the same sweet magic I found in Owen Meany! Fingers crossed!

@laurielizard I'm almost afraid to read the new book for the same reason! To Kill a Mockingbird was my favorite book around that age too! My oldest son also loved it -- it was the first and only "school" book that he wanted a better copy of -- but I don't think my other two liked it as much. I haven't read A Prayer for Owen Meany, but it was on one of my kids' summer reading lists. It sounded good, but he wouldn't read it. I'm going to go put it on hold for me now!
