Magnolia blossoms outside the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond. There are definitely more things blooming in Richmond than there are in Woodbridge. Stopped here to check for alternate routes home after picking Jack up for the weekend. We never seem to get here when it's actually open.

That's a magnolia?!? I've never seen one like that before. It's awesome.

I've too never seen them on a tree or half way open like this. I've only seen them in pictures and in arrangements.

@margonaut @laurielizard I think this one is the star magnolia. There were four different types in the parking lot. This was the only one on the tree that was partway open like this.
