ricky's chicken 2

Our new favorite Peruvian chicken place. We've eaten here twice in the last week.
I've never had Peruvian food. What's it like?

@kestrelkitten Well, I've never had anything other than the chicken and it is amazing -- although it doesn't really taste different than really good charbroiled/roasted chicken. What makes it amazing is the sauce. It comes with two -- a green sauce and a yellow sauce. The green sauce is spicy (my one son loves that one). The yellow one is creamy and so so so good. I can't find a recipe, but I think the ingredients are some kind of Peruvian yellow pepper (not spicy), mayonnaise, and mustard. But, it is so much more than the sum of it's parts! You have to get it with yellow rice and french fries (I don't know why, but the combination is so good). Yucca is also good -- if you haven't had it, it's sort of like potatoes and it's fried like the french fries. My older son and my daughter and I consider it our mission to try every version we can find. My middle son doesn't like it, but he hasn't tried it either -- he is sometimes stubborn about his food! We tricked him into trying the sauce one time (and he really liked it), so the chicken might be in his future! We always ask for extra yellow sauce and use it on sandwiches, in chicken salad, on burgers. My son uses both sauces on eggs. I can't believe how much I've written about this chicken. Obviously I'm obsessed. When my daughter graduated, I took my whole family to our previous favorite Peruvian chicken place (Delia's, which is still pretty awesome). Some members of my family (and there are a lot of them -- 23) are sometimes resistant to trying to new things, but they all ordered it and everyone loved it. (You're probably sorry that you asked what it was like -- but you should try it.)

@wiesnerbeth LOL, definitely not sorry, I'm a fat girl that likes to cook, I'm always happy to hear about food ^_^ I'm not generally picky but I do tend to hate anything with mayonnaise in it so I might have to be tricked into that sauce too, but otherwise it does all sound and look really good. I don't know that I've ever seen a Peruvian restaurant here, but I'm sure if we haven't got one here I could track one down in Denver. Maybe I'll have to see if the boyfriend is up for a field trip this weekend.
