One lone rhodora on a cliff along the Ship Harbor Trail in Acadia. My family went off to look at the tide pools while I climbed down the cliff. “Make a loon sound if you get stuck,” my niece Lucy said as she left. “I’ll come back and get you.” Let me just say that not one of the nine members of my family recognized the sound of my loon call.
So pretty! And I love your account of this hike. My mother used to live near Acadia, so I saw a little bit of it, but we didn't do the trails as she was in her 90's at the time. It's a beautiful part of the country.

@eudora We love it there! This was our second trip and both times I’ve hoped to see this flower in full bloom, but we go up a little too late. Still, I’m happy to have seen a few blossoms. Maybe next trip!
