Some pretty impassioned and eloquent speakers standing up for the safety of teachers and students in our district. Even though I didn’t speak, I was so proud to be a part of this group of peaceful protesters. It’s been a rough few weeks, but our school board listened and supported not just teachers, but cafeteria workers, bus drivers, custodians, secretaries, and everyone involved in the school community.
@margonaut@eudora Yes, around midnight they agreed that we would be 100% virtual for the first quarter, which ends in November. They will re-evaluate at the end of the quarter. There are some things to work out for our ESOL and special education students and teachers and the county is trying to back out of providing PPE. They also delayed the opening of school until September 8 to allow teachers time to prepare and didn’t add any extra days or take away any holidays or breaks. Usually our county waits until all the others around us have made decisions before we commit to a plan. This is the first time we’ve made a decision before the others.
