Hike no. 5. This was the best photo of the day, but the most exciting things that happened were that I saw two lesser scaup (confirmed by two birders since I didn’t really know what they were) and two eagles courting!
It's a little late for eagle courting season, isn't it? The "baby" at the Berry College nest is huge and will probably fledge any day now. Had to look up scaup - you saw ducks!
@margonaut I looked it up after watching them and think these were last year’s babies “practicing.” Maybe late bloomers? There was a couple standing near me who thought they might be fighting but the courting video I watched later looked just like what they were doing.
