The past two days the ground under a tree in front of school has been sprinkled with feather. I picked them all up yesterday and there were more today. Molting season? This happened under the same tree — same type of feathers — about six months ago too.
I got an email (from the bird food company) saying birds are getting ready to migrate (and I should feed them more for their trip.) Maybe they molt before they leave?
