This shot is for Ksyu ( http://365project.org/ksyu/365/2013-08-14) when we discussed the possible connection between Chaika (Russian for Seagull) camera and Chinese Seagull Camera. I dug out my husband’s Chinese Seagull and some old photos. I surprised to find a photo of me holding one of its kinds. There were a close relationship between China and Russian in 1950’s and 60’s. But after searching the Google, the same names may be more likely a coincident.
How interesting! It seems like this image would be perfect for the nostalgia theme challenge. Not sure if it's still running. You should check it out and enter if it is.
Ah, great collection of treasures, Yao! And you made wonderful picture, it's so nice to see you there!!! I also made my research and found out that the name "Chaika"(exactly "seagull") came from the callsign of Valentina Tereshkova (first woman in the space) during her first flight into space! You know Russians are obsessed with the fame of astronauts, so it became the name for the camera.
