Not Yet Retired

The road in Beijing is chocked with cars. Bikes no longer rule the road. It is nice to see this bike equipped with a child seat at the back and a grocery basket in the front. It is funny it chained into the front door.

such a timely commentary on the transition from bikes to cars...i have seen in my own business the chinese demand for raw resources.....steel, lumber copper etc plus platinum for cars catalytic converters...great observation Yao!

@ianrm It is a dilemma, at a huge cost to environment and human health.

There a song with the line "there are nine million bicycles in Beijing" do you know it? I love how this bike is chained to the door.

It's the way to go! Good for the environment and good exercise too. Great to see it is still valued.

Wonderful capture -- the bike tells the story. Last time I was in Beijing was over a decade ago, when bicycles did rule the roads. Sad that it is now cars and heavy traffic.

Sad thing to think that you have to chain a bike with a baby seat! But it makes for a good shot. Glad to see you arrived safely!
