Vaseline by yaorenliu

Vaseline

Warning first:

1. Don’t apply Vaseline to your lens, Use a piece of glass.

2. Clean your hand after applying the Vaseline before handling your camera.

Our weather is too cloudy for this type of shot, but I cannot wait to share this tip. This is approximately the same place as: http://365project.org/yaorenliu/365/2014-07-09

Tip 1: Don’t apply too much Vaseline; it will make the subject unrecognisable.

Tip 2: For vertical distortion, apply Vaseline horizontally, vice versa, for this photo, Vaseline is applied vertically.

The benefit of using Vaseline is that you have full control of the composition, what you see in the viewfinder is what you are going to get.

Try on human figure with good directional light, you will get painterly figure in 3D, make Rembrandt scream!

Wow and wow ! Fav!

@virtualbrownie I have a filter holder, I slided in the sheet of glass, that is given to me at the workshop, that is just a normal picture frame glass. Because the filter holder can turn freely, you can experiment the direction of the vaseline in relation to the image you are taking. You would love it! Cannot wait to look at your shot.

Omg omg omg! This is so cool! So this method is referred to as just vasaline? I wanna try this too. Awesome! Totally a Favorite!

@livvy Just Vaseline on glass – to protect you lens. Experiment the amount of Vaseline and direction of how you smear it; You can also try to leave some part clear – a kind of Lensbaby at no cost.

Awesome image! Thank you for all the tips! So you put the Vaseline all over a sheet of glass and hold that in front of the lens? Strange how the vertical application comes out horizontal and vice versa. Weird.
