My friend asked me to take her family photos for her memoir she is going to publish, I took the opportunity taking a photo for her family and played around with processing.
I need to do something to the white grass - such a bad editing.
Beautiful image - maybe you can tone the white down a little with a graduated tint. I love the light on their faces, and the warmth generated by the shot.
I agree. I think the white is perfect. It looks as though there is a ray of sunlight leading all the way to the little girl. That is what stood out to me as soon as I saw this. I think they will be very happy!
The processing does the job perfectly - to tell the story of the relationship between the little girl and her father. The viewer is just drawn to this part of the picture, while the rest just puts it into a great and serene context. Nicely done, and I agree with @dide on the water suggestion, I think it will strengthen the effect.
This is so sweet. I agree with Dianne though, the water on the grass is fine as it is as it draws your eye to the people, but you could tone down the water a bit.
One thing I took note of in Gibson's book last month was that if you're going to have a highlight, it works best at the edge of the picture- which is exactly where the brightest part of your lighting is. So, it doesn't draw me away from the subject. But if it bothers you, then I do like the idea of a graduated tint on the water. To me the light is perfect because it leads you to the father and daughter- and the shot as a whole is really beautiful. fav!
