Played Mahj at our house tonight instead of McA's. It was fun to get out the "house set" again. Once I found out how much they were worth, I quit taking them out!
@gardenfolk I'm not sure if they are bakelite or not. My mom got this set at a rummage sale and gave it to me years ago just in case I ever wanted to learn how to play. I pulled it out of the basement and cleaned it up when I started playing with the girls around 4 years ago. It was the only set we had at the time. I posted a photo of it in the FB Mahjongg group I belong to and someone said it was worth $650. So, we use this as out house set now. There's a couple chipped tiles and the girls are nervous they will chip more even though I really don't care. The set was made to be played with and dropping tiles is all part of it.
