Grand Traverse Lighthouse by yogiw

Grand Traverse Lighthouse

Ever since we arrived in Traverse City yesterday we saw two different people wearing M22 t-shirts. Wondering what was so special about M22 we quickly found out today. M22 is a 116.7 miles road that follows the Lake Michigan scenic shoreline of the Leelanau Peninsula.

At the tip of the peninsula is the Grand Traverse Lighthouse. In beautiful condition, it features white painted brick, black windows and a red painted tin roof. We walked down the steps in back to stand on the rocky shore of Lake Michigan and watch the crystal clear water. It was another perfect day on our lighthouse quest and made me fall in love with M22. It's now one of my new favorite roads.

Such a lovely well kept lighthouse. M22 does sound like a wonderful drive. My kind of views of the shore.

@stevepam @gardenfolk Some of the lighthouses were in beautiful condition. I think that's because everyone was getting ready for the season to open Memorial Day weekend. Lots had a fresh coat of paint and beautiful landscaping.
