The Great Inland Seafood Festival by yogiw

The Great Inland Seafood Festival

Ande had to work all day yesterday so we celebrated my birthday today. He made a list of all the fun things to do and let me choose.

The weather is usually so oppressive around here in the middle of August but it was overcast, not too hot and the humidity was fairly low so I picked (surprise!) an outdoor event — The Great Inland Seafood Festival. I can't believe it's been here every summer since 1988 and we've never been to it.

We ventured down to the river on the Kentucky side to see what it was all about. What were we thinking not bringing any cash? We had to hit the ATM twice, once for parking money and again for food money. It was way more expensive than we thought it was going to be and didn't take enough cash out the first time.

I loved the tacky, fair-like banners with the horrible 1950's photography. The food venders must all be on the festival circuit. I've never seen any of these places here in town. The coconut shrimp, clam strips, hush puppies and steamed lobsters were DE-LISH. After we were finished eating I wished we hadn't eaten yet so we could eat again!

We did go back for a second lobster to split. Ande did all the work so I didn't have to get my hands yucky with lobster juice. That was a good birthday present!! 🦞🦞
