Playing Kubb

A group of friends and colleagues spent the weekend away at the beach. Kubb was one of the games played. Kubb is a lawn game where the object is to knock over wooden blocks, known as 'kubbs', by throwing wooden batons at them. Kubb can perhaps be described as a combination of bowling and horseshoes with significantly more strategy. It certainly was entertaining and fun to play

@alinz yes, but I don't think we got as much as you. Only rained for an hour, during which we were under an awning doing a quiz

You've got me inspired - went out and got the timber to make this game. Except that I think the piece I got for the King might be somewhat too heavy. At the moment, it is soaking wet from being outside in the timber yard, so I'll see what it's like when it is dry. I did price a lovely looking cedar set……but was somewhat taken back by the price!

@dide yes, I sourced one in Auckland, but after seeing the price, I did some surfing, and found plans to make your own. I have a carpenter friend who made my set

@yorkshirekiwi The kind man at Mitre 10 cut the pieces to length for me, so now I only have to sand them - and maybe chop some bits from the top of the king to make it a bit lighter…..
