Ken Nobbs was a famous for hybridizing roses. Our village of Te Kauwhata has kilometres of unnamed Nobbs and other roses making a wonderful display for locals and drivers. They look gorgeous at this time of year. I learnt today that he was also a naturist, and if you ever visited his garden, it paid to whistle loudly, as he would tend his roses in his birthday suit!
