Anzac Poppies by yorkshirekiwi

Anzac Poppies

Anzac day is on Wednesday. All our local crafty ladies, have been knitting and crocheting poppies to decorate the trees near the memorial.
Anzac Day is the solemn day of remembrance of those Australian and New Zealand Army Corps soldiers who have fought and died for their country. It is marked annually on 25 April, the anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign of the First World War
How lovely these look.

A great remembrance. I remember when we were young, we always had poppies in remembrance, but that is no longer true. That is very sad.
