The only truly alpine parrots in the World. Lives in the South Island. Having a quick 3 day trip to the South Island in a couple of weeks, but I doubt we'll have time to go looking for them. Business trip for my husband on which I'm tagging along for.

Fabulous colours! When I visited NZ many years ago we went to Stewart Island. While walking through the forest I looked down to my camera just as one flew right over my head - his wings touching me as he went by. Of course I missed the whole thing! Lol!

We came across a group of them systematically destroying some parked roadwork vehicles near Arthurs Pass. They were tearing bits off everywhere.
