On Monday night NZ had a power crisis, and 20,000 homes were suddenly, without warning plunged into darkness. After a particular cold snap, demand outweighed production. This particular power station is due to close permanently as it is coal fired. Our government is aiming to be carbon neutral. Ironically, pushing electric cars is on the agenda. It will be interesting to see how these cars will run when we can't even keep all the lights on!
