I am always pleasantly surprised to see this little guy. The Dingle is basically just the width of the stream which is fenced off with a pathway either side, and quite large trees line majority of its length so limited chance to get close unseen, it is also quite popular with dog-walkers (me included) so can be quite busy, they are quite timid, slightest movement and away he goes.

We don't have Dippers here...the first one I saw in the US I thought had drowned...who would know they walk underwater! Great photo
