Deadpan photography (see description below). Inspired by Helge E. Storheim's post on Deadpan photography in the 365 Discuss section on March 30th, 2024.
Challenges: Sparks Joy (week 14 of 52); Six words title.
Title borrowed from song by LMFAO, Sexy and I know it.
"Deadpan photography is devoid of emotion. It simply exists as a subject and photograph, yet it seems to be empty. There is no joy or sorrow, although some can argue that the deadpan itself is a mood of its own. Famous photographers who use this aesthetic seem to be completely detached from the subject that they are photographing, and the word ‘indifference’ seems to describe the photograph perfectly"....."(Note: the deadpan aesthetic has been around for decades, although newer photographers are beginning to adopt the aesthetic of the old professionals)" https://www.nyfa.edu/student-resources/what-is-deadpan-photography/
Hi Dave, to me the deadpan photographer can be very compared to the reporter who presents facts as they present themselves, without adding nor taking anything away.
To get a better understanding, I watched the YouTube Helge provided at https://youtu.be/0W1dmfG699w?feature=shared
