Every summer the harbour and mill pond become choked with algae and weed. I loathe the stuff, it actually turns my stomach and I avoid being in the water with it if I can (difficult when launching and landing boats!)
This evenng I went stand-up paddleboarding on the mill pond and was determined to keep my balance to remain dry and weed free. The nutrients that come from the ducks and swans is inches deep on the bottom of the mill pond and the weed is very long and the algae blankets the surface- both of which snagged the board's fin frequently.
