A delicious cherry trifle for dessert for our traditional pre-Christmas lunch with friends. We've met on Christmas Eve, or as close as possible to the 24th, alternating as host, for the last 33 years. We think we have only missed 6 Christmas meals!
Another focus stacked image (just 6 this time - had seconds to consume!) for my get pushed challenge, it's been through Affinity, PhotoscapeX and back to Affinity. Also an entry for Katy's festive food challenge and oh it's a six worder too!!.
Please do take a photo that has some tinsel in it and enter the mundane-tinsel challenge
@randystreat another go Kathy, the only way I could get bokeh and the hundreds and thousands at the focus I wanted!! @wakelys see we do use those spoons u love @grammyn sneaking in a festive pud for you!! @monikozi today I finally saw the purpose of focus stacking
How is it? Is it for getting that sharpness in the subject and the bokeh in the background? I still can't tell it apart from using a shallow dof. Or, no matter the dof, the focus does not come out so sharp, does it?
Such a fabulous photo. I noticed the spoon right away, after I noticed the bokeh. It is a very elegant entry for the food challenge as well as all the other ones that you nailed with this one photo!
This is beautiful. The focus stacking got all the details of the crystal or cut glass bowls, the colorful nonpareils and your lovely spoon while keeping the bokeh of tree lights.
Well, the thing is: if you got the gist of focus stacking, it's the best thing. It was what you were aiming for, right? :D Maybe one day I'll try it out. First I need to check if my camera features the function. :)
@randystreat Oh dear me! As I was reading that thread, I said to myself: "ok, that makes sense, especially for professionals and people who intend to use their photographs on large scale and so on." And then I reached that last-but-one reply (the long one) and I was blown to pieces. As the guy said, he's a geek :D But thanks, anyway for the sharing the information. As I said, maybe one day, I will look into it in much more depth and especially practice.
@monikozi 👍 The better you get (and you're top of the line in my opinion) the more technical skills you can master. And I'm glad I didn't see that comment. I already think the technique is too fussy!
@randystreat Kathy, you are very sweet. I am in the beginning still. I mean, some of the people here have been photographing as ling as I lived. And I am not that young. Whereas I just started into photography. I am still in the learning phase and relying very much on the pleasant woopsies. But as long as it's fun, I am happy.
This is absolutely delicious - with the food, atmosphere, and stacking. you have created a wonderful shot that rivals the best magazine covers!
Well done and A FAV!
@wakelys see we do use those spoons u love
@grammyn sneaking in a festive pud for you!!
@monikozi today I finally saw the purpose of focus stacking
@monikozi I think that's down to my lack of technical ability Moni! I don't think I sectioned off the focus areas well
@wakelys possibly, but it's lovely to use my Great Grandmother's one!!
@tinley23 don't like trifle? I suppose its textures and cloying sweetness can be overpowering
