100 people attended the dementia fair at which I was a volunteer. Met up with loads of people I used to work with ( all still employed and there tending stalls!)
Lunch was delicious and the memory choir lady had us singing Queen, Carpenters, Bob Marley to name just a few!! There were crafts to try your hand at, stalls of charities, businesses and council services. So much available but spread so thinly for those requiring.
I am so grateful to still have my faculties and no dependent older relatives to care for. It was heartening to hear the buzz of such a supportive atmosphere, to talk to carers over lunch and hear how much they appreciated the event.
like you, i am grateful that i still have some of my faculties although they're now questionable. and, too, that i have no relative with such ailment to take care of. it is heartbreaking to hear the stories some of the people i know who are caring for parents who have dementia.
Very nice collage showing the event. One of my college roommates was effected when she was only 50. We all rallied and tried to help her hubby and family, but it was very difficult on them. I think the main thing I learned is that if it impacts your family you have to ask for and accept help.
