Senbazuru

An art installation of 1000 suspended origami cranes made from 7000 syringe wrappers, it represents a typical day of vaccination in the city

Wiki entry (abridged) states:- a thousand paper cranes are often given to a person who is seriously ill, to wish for their recovery. They are usually created by a collective effort and used to wish for victory. Pretty potent for today I think

Fascinating capture and narrative

@carole_sandford How could you see them that well. I often wish there was a magnifier on this site because there are often things I'd like to zoom into to get a better look.

This looks great and very meaningful. I also zoomed in for a closer look and recognised the syringe packaging.

@summerfield if only it was at its almost end. Last night on the news they said the number of active positive cases worldwide is higher than this time last year!!

@kjarn - here in our province of ontario, the cases have been going down for the last three weeks. yesterday we were down to 184 new cases. that may change, though, because we presently have a four-day weekend as it was canada day yesterday and most people would've skipped working today. plus since wednesday lockdown was eased so that businesses can open, restaurants are now open for indoor dining, all those stuff. the young people would be partying hard i would reckon, most of them not wanting the vaccine and tired of obeying the covid protocols. we're hoping there won't be any fourth wave for us after this weekend. stay well and safe, kathy.
