@ludwigsdiana It is interesting what they are called in different countries, I know them as either Russian Dolls or Matroyskas - I have a few sets, this is not all!!
@30pics4jackiesdiamond We were at Spring Harvest - which is a huge Christian convention - a few years ago and a charity working with children in Russia ran a quiz, there were two prizes of these large 8-doll Matroyska Doll sets. I won one of them and when asked what I would do with it said that I was a Play Therapist and used them regularly in therapy with children. The charity worker was amazed because the other winner had already collected her prize and cried as she told him about the memories she had of using one of these when she was in Play Therapy as a child........ What were the chances of that???
@365anne what a great story Anne! the history of the Kokeshi doll is also very interesting. It is believed they were first sold to visitors in the Tohoku region between 1600-1868 :-)
