Hardwick Hall by 365projectmaxine

Hardwick Hall

An Elizabethan country house created by Bess of Hardwick, Dowager Duchess of Shrewsbury in the 1500's. At the time it was considered outrageously opulent due to the extravagant use of glass. She ordered that her initials E S carved in stone and presented underneath her coronet stand at the top of each tower.
A great shot of this impressive structure! It's hard for me to imagine this kind of construction back in the 1500s! Amazing!

I think it very opulent too, although more for the initials and the outrageous heating bills all that glass would have caused in the 1500s 😉
