Appuldurcombe House by 4rky

Appuldurcombe House

Looks like a beautiful 18th century Baroque mansion but, although partially restored (the front section has been reroofed and glazed and a small part of the interior recreated), the rest of the house is a shell. And it's haunted!

Even so, it's still open to the public to explore.

Google thinks that Appuldurcombe roughly translates from Old English to "Ditchwater Bottom" - I can see why they kept the original name.
Magnificent building

How fascinating and such a marvelous capture! I'd love to go back in time and see it in its original state.

That is a drastic change in a language from Appuldurcombe to ditchwater bottom.

Love this place, remember visiting decades ago when it was just a shell and just open for anyone to wander round, so atmospheric.
