"...always been able to talk with animals. I used to think it was a handicap, but it's not; it's a gift." Hugh Lofting, "Dr. Dolittle"
...whoops...there she goes again! Honest to Pete, I have this really lovely 3-bar xylophone, (lyre shaped, the sort one would carry through the train car to announce dinner), that I was going to photograph for "3" today. I took some pictures of it before heading to the park(s)...first one, and then to another in H.B. for "Breakfast in the Park", as the restaurant is called. Photographic opportunities abounded, and rapidly I'd shot dozens...and dozens...and dozens of photos! Finally I asked Ken to take a couple of me feeding the little ground squirrels, and, wouldn't you know it, I came home, saw this one, and the xylophone idea was toast! I'd suggest to Ken he start his own photo site, but I'd loose my "human tripod" (though since he received the compliments the other day, he'd rather I refer to him as either Clark Gable or Tom Selleck! sheesh!)
And all of you, my goodness, your comments & compliments are an embarrassment of riches. I hear you all and I want so much to give you my best in return (or Ken's best, in this case!) I'm enjoying your photos so very very much as well, and I love "being in touch". Again, *Thank You* hardly covers it.
You have also the gift of encouragement. Do I gather that you've been to "The Rev and a Dog"? Thanks for your comments and I trust you'll have a very happy Easter too.
Louise, you DO have a way with animals! I'm also amazed how these 3 different creatures are all standing there together to get some of your attention (and your peanuts apparently.) Looks like this park is a very diverse neighborhood where the inhabitants are all very accepting of each other. Nice!
Finally, you cracked me up again commenting on the fact that I used Easter and dumbbells in the same sentence! Guess you are right. That probably does not happen very often! ..oh, and be sure to tell "Clark" we all say hi!
What a fabuolous photo! It's the unexpected and unplanned shots that work out the best...and they are the ones that truly captivate what we are doing for the day, which is of course the reason for this site. I'm glad that you chose this one....! Clark Gable sounds appropriate as well....haha! Tomorrow after all is another day!!!!
i couldn't agree more with wahyusp you have the perfect threesome (of animals of course) following you and it looks like some great parks you can go to. your animal photos are so wonderful and you and i alike love the squirrels
This IS an amazing capture, Louise! Having a pigeon that close doesn't surprise me, but the other two? And, then, all three so close to each other?!!? WOW!
what a great photo and the fact that THREE birds are in the picture for today's shot is wonderful!! :) You are blessed to be around so many different animals.....and they are blessed to have someone who cares for them too! :)
Happy Easter, too, Mrs. Doolittle. This photo is spectacular. There's probably a lineup of animals somewhere in that park waiting for you..like we're all waiting here for the next thing you're going to post =)
This is so great! I'm sure there are some additional different animals on the photo we just can't see. Like an ant and a spider and they all want to be fed by you. =)
OK...someone please tell Della that there are 2 birds and 1 squirrel in the picture and not 3 BIRDS...(Della, if you read this, I KNOW you won't mind me picking on you...I hope ;-]
dr. doolittle with Rex Harrison was my fav when i was a kid! aaaahhh, and you are my fav here on 365.. but it looks like i am not alone! LOVE THE ANIMALS WITH YOU!
i'm not in the OC but i shall shall visit a park soon, with peanuts! the problem is i have a dog and he wants to be friends with all the animals, especially kitties but they won't have it! scares them all away.
Happy Easter to you too Louise!
LOOOOVE it! You are the animal whisperer!! Such a fun shot! Keep them coming. I'm still trying to take a good squirrel picture just for you. I just don't have the knack of getting them to come to me like you do... something about having a big yellow dog at my side seems to make them wary.... Have a lovely Easter Weekend. :)

Tried to send this link earlier - it might appear twice! You'll find my voice here in a day or so.....have just had a short programme aired on the radio - From Darkness to the Dawn. Link isn't up yet.
You get better all the time! Haha, my friend Jojo and I already have a trip planned to the store for 1/2 priced peeps. My husband doesn't get it, he thinks I should just have a few spoonfuls of sugar. He doesn't know the magic of the peep. With another friend we mailed a stale peep back and forth writing stories about his adventures for a whole year so we wouldn't get bored at work. I am a true dork! Thanks for sharing the love!
I love this so much!
( And think you MUST always wear purple. It suits you. Yes, even with your head down and just your little nose visible, I can tell! ;-)
I was trying to think of ANOTHER way to photograph Jelly Bellys, and so wished for my buddy the squirrel to come back, so I could pretend to feed him one, just for you!
( Naturally, I would give him his real treat afterwards! )
Sweet Mother of Disney! If you had told us that these guys followed you home and whipped up an Easter outfit for you out of old curtains and a window sash...I think I'd have believed you! ;-)
Love this shot!!! Love your words and your kind comments! "...an embarrassment of riches". Honestly, I could not have described my life any better at this point. Thank you as always for being there with the right words.
Finally, you cracked me up again commenting on the fact that I used Easter and dumbbells in the same sentence! Guess you are right. That probably does not happen very often! ..oh, and be sure to tell "Clark" we all say hi!
3 different animals in the same time...great catch! =)
Jealous ... !!!
Happy Easter to you too Louise!
