Grandmother poured
from this lip, lineage;
affected by years
pale memory.
Saved for one
into the future;
from the history,
your memory.
Mrs. Smith's class assignment in the style of William Carlos Williams due Monday, April 19
This creamer and sugar bowl belonged to my father's mother, and today, my father http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2010-04-02 would have turned 97. Thinking of my own lineage today.
Mrs Smith "our English teacher" challenged us to take part in her class assignment http://365project.org/mrssmith/365/2010-04-15
I did mine in the early morning hours when my fingers don't cooperate to type and my head was still in a "day-dreamy" state...
how i love the pink table cloth, one that i would use on my coffee table! while on the way to pick up my daughter from school, i had this little worry creeping in me that we might not hear from you for a while during the summer vacation!
Luster & Everyone...It's not so much a "vacation" as moving to anothe home for the summer months. I'll have my computer & will definitely keep in touch! (I make so many comments now on pictures I see, I just don't want anyone to think I don't like a photo if I don't have as much time to write this summer.) But I'll "visit" and enjoy as much as time permits! I'd miss you all too much if I had to do without!
That's so lovely. Fuchsia is one of my favourite shrubs (and I know what I'm going to photograph today!). Love the diagonal line in this shot, the damask, the movement....the whole thing "works" for me. And it works especially because of the history and memories that make the accompanying poem so beautiful. Thank you.
There's such a warm fuzzy feeling to this shot, then reading your caption makes it that much more cozy. Recently diving into my own lineage, this makes me want to purchase a "good" tea set for my future warm fuzzies! :D
All the parts of your assignment work so well together -- the arrangement, the lovely design of the tablecloth against the shapes of the china, the stream of cream pouring into the coffee with the reflection tying them together. And of course the poem bringing everything to life. A+ for you!
Oh, how very beautiful and meaningful, Louise. I love your heirlooms ... and this poem is wonderful. The fact that you wrote it makes it even more beautiful. I think that Mrs. Smith will give you an A+ for your assignment. Happy 97th birthday to your Dad.
an absolute beautiful creamer and sugar bowl. wish i had some things inherited from my parents. the only keepsake i have is a recipe my mom send over to me when i once lived in Chicago. it is so old and faded by now but i will never discard it. your poem is so heart warming and fits perfectly with the picture reminding you of all the memories you have of your grandmother.
Very lovely....I have a thing for dinnerware and glassware, too. I love the delicate pattern of the tablecloth it's on too. Thank you for your comments on my photo...I always like getting your comments!
Excellent job on your homework, Louise! Beautiful dishes...look at that stream of cream -- really a lovely image. Everything works wonderfully together.
thanks for dropping a note, i was actually checking your project for the day yesterday like twice and did not find any new one, so when i came back in the afternoon after some errands, i was more than relieved to find this one! also realised that we come from different time zones... hahaha, i was at home yesterday hence i had the time to check on 365ers a few times a day! have fun!!!!
Very nice. I really like the use of repetition in your poem. It's so effective as it does evoke the idea that you are reflecting and remembering today. I would have understood that without your explanation. I love it. A+ and a sticker! And thank you so much for doing this assignment....! I'm so impressed with your work and everyone's work. It's kind of fun to see the words and the images and how they all fit together.
Thanks for your comments on hoya and rubber band. Have found myself mentally writing poetry all day! It was a fun challenge and look forward to what Mrs S will come up with next time!
i was wonderin' about this assignment that i might have missed, till i checked out and then followed Mrs Smith! i had to come back again and looked at the photo just a bit longer and i found something very dramatic about how delicately you poured milk from such a heirloom...and the lovely poem aptly describes its value to you and the family. oh, what a wonderful project i missed!
I have to confess to all of you who commented on the
vintage" table cloth in the picture...it was from Linens n Things...but I use it all the time...I think it was in the picture when Ken and I were "Playing Nice"...
Thanks for all the nice comments today; I loved sharing with you all!
Hi Louise! I wasn't quite ready for the self portrait week but it shall come eventually :) This picture is fantastic and i love the creamer and sugar bowl.
oh Louise, your sweet comment really made me blushing...like wise, i think you are just the sweetest lady i have ever "met" (soon will be it will be "literally" :)) i will keep up the "good work" :))
Lovely photo, great sentiment and now I must have some tea. :)

Thank you!!! You make me smile! You help make 365 so worth it! I didn't even know what was goin on! I haven't had much time lately to look around & comment. I need more time in the day. I'm so glad you were the first one- I actually yay'ed outloud here in my living room hehe
I realize I'm a little late in commenting, but I've been back and forth the past week seeing to my mother-in-law who is having a bout with her heart rate being to high. I love the pitcher and creamer Louise. What lovely memories it must bring to mind. This shot is so crip and clear it looks like we could reach into the picture and help ourselves to a cup!
I did mine in the early morning hours when my fingers don't cooperate to type and my head was still in a "day-dreamy" state...

Are these things you use every day or did you get them out especially for us? *big hug* on this Monday morning!
