Before leaving for the summer back in early May, I'd had lunch with my circle of local friends and we made plans to get together again today. We had a dining room to ourselves & caught up over the course of a couple hours. The daughter of one got married this summer, one had moved to a new home, another had traveled as I had, I'm the last in the group about to become a grandmother, and we celebrated three birthdays. We had a lot to talk about! I was disappointed my photo of them all wasn't to my liking, but we've been a circle of friends for the past 32 years, so I've no shortage of photos. My neighbor and (Kappa) friend, Judee, brought me home and I suggested she stay the remainder of the afternoon and for dinner. Ken poured us wine, we played Scrabble, and the hours passed quickly. It was nice to set aside a day when I wasn't thinking about organizing, shopping and packing, and after a summer away, we had a lot to catch up on. After sorting through the day's photos, the darling picture of Judee was my favorite, and, for me, a perfect way to record an exceptionally nice day back home.
Thanks for your kind words about my journal notes. It's been fun to share as I've gotten to know you all as well!
I'm glad you had a wonderful day with friends! It's always nice to catch up, especially with as much going on as your group seems to have! This is a great shot of Judee, and an afternoon of wine and Scrabble sounds about perfect to me! I can't believe it's already October either. Where has this year gone?
Time does have a way of getting by quickly, but it is fun getting together with friends, and sharing life. It sounds like you had a wonderful time. October is a beautiful month, but it also brings closer the end of another year, speaking of time moving so quickly.
ok I gotta admit that my first though when you said it was nice to have a day not organizing, packing etc.... was LOUISE you had a whole summer of friends, dinners and visiting. hahaha But still one day of doing "duties" is more than I can bear sometimes so I get it. BTW golden girls probably make the best BFF's because 32 years is mighty impressive. Your world is so filled with love and I love that
It was 44 degrees when I was awakened by my daughter’s call this morning! (Missouri) But that’s a sign that October is here! Colors, pumpkins, apple cider…oh, yeah! Looks like you had a lovely time with your circle of CA friends. And you certainly had months’ worth of catching up to do. Which one of the Golden Girls are you….not Dorothy or Blanche or…think you’re in a class all your own!
I think those are the best kinds of days............spent with close friends. Especially after a long absence. Someone mentioned Christmas shopping? Totally not yet!
Awww, this is such a wonderful moment captured. My BFF lives in Australia and I haven't seen her in almost two years, but it's only made us that much closer in our hearts. Friendship kinda does that to you :)
Judee looks so relaxed and comfortable in this shot...is that the wine or your photography skills? What am I saying? OF COURSE your friends would be at their most relaxed around you...and they are certainly used to seeing a camera in your hands and are not intimidated, so you DO know how to capture them at their best. :-)
I love this pic and your notes about your friends. Some of the people I hold most dear are far away and it's hard to believe life rolls along without seeing them. You may have inspired me to pick up the phone (but it isn't really the same...) Thanks for reminding me.
I love catching up with friends that Ive known for absolute years. Once you get talking its like theres not been time apart ha! Your friend Judee looks so relaxed with you and yes October!!!
you had me at "golden girls"!! that's my fave show by the way! so glad that you got a chance to catch up with your friends. my "real" social life has slipped away from me since marriage, getting sober and having kids. and scrabble! what fun!
Judee emailed me this evening to say she'd enjoyed seeing my photo choice, though she thought she looked like her mother! I asked her permission to quote...
"...of course I was relaxed with that big ass glass of wine. And I'm more a Maude!"
What a lovely, lovely day you had - there's nothing like getting together with friends for a good old natter...and funny that we were doing just the same thing today - I love this picture of your friend.
What a wonderful day...and she looks so relaxed. Nice to have friends like that...! I always enjoy reading your comments...no matter where you are and what you are doing.
@tww62 I have little doubt you have a circle of friends as wide as mine! If we sat in the same room, I'd be delighted if I could be in your circle, too!
What have missed re your journal notes you mention. I'm not good at navigating the 365 site. I keep forgetting to check the themes.
Sounds like a wonderful day with some great people.
What a beautiful relaxed pic :)

And a nice photo of your long time friend Judee - pleased to meet you Judee :D
