It was an easy realization that the pleasure of a grandbaby comes without the details of the learning curve that John & Ashley are on! They're filled with joy as they get to know Ashton, but they're learning their way around nursing and sleepless nights! We've seen to all else for them and they did remark that they love having a personal chef! I'm so happy to be there for everyone when they need Grandmama to step in. Ken's just happy to sit alongside and enjoy the pleasure of looking at him. We're only on Day 4 here, but we love our new role already!
Your notes and comments have meant the world to me and I've enjoyed a little free time to look at pictures and leave a few comments. I hate being able to respond to only a few of you at a time when I want to say a personal thank you to you all! Know I'm thinking of you, and one day soon I'm looking forward to having a nice outdoor photo of the new family. There's another set of grandparents in Pennsylvania who are waiting to see that!
Michael gave me “God’s little Instruction Book for Grandparents” when he was born. There are so many quotes I love…this one is so true…”Loving a grandchild is circular: The more love you give, the more you get – and the more you want to give again.” It’s all about love – this little bundle can feel it all, I’m sure! Beautiful!
Awww he's adorable. Looks like you've got the grandma touch. I love seeing you with him. It's good you're there for your daughter, too. It's not easy being new parents!
aww..what a sweet little boy... i remember when g was small enough to hold in one arm..makes me ache for another tiny one... so glad that you are able to experience such a sweet time with them.. cherish it... as you know, they grow sooo fast...
This is just precious! I love that big, proud smile of yours! Thanks for the well-wishes for Jones. I'm still waiting to hear from the vet to find out what's wrong, but at least I know he's in good hands.
A beautiful picture of you with that precious grandson.........he is so tiny. I've forgotten just what a little peanut Hannah was at birth. I'm so happy for you all :o)))))))))
I love your title, Louise - it's so true! I was holding baby Paxton yesterday and it just felt so good! Still not ready to have one of my own, but so nice to hold somebody else's ;-) You and Ashton look absolutely adorable! He is so lucky to have a cute granny like you! Enjoy every moment and take a lot of pictures of this sweet little boy! ;-)
Aww this is the picture I have been waiting to see Louise, what a joy to see you holding your beautiful little grandson. You said a while back I had made you smile when I made the comment I was looking forward to seeing you holding the baby, you have a lovely smile in this picture Louise
Very dear Louise it's so great that your waitings are all gone by such holy coming of this very little and sweet bless. He is so beautiful and he looks, though soon to assess, like you I believe. Tell this to Ken as he opposed you claiming that as a proof. Hi Ken! ;-) Happy New Birth. I wish you all the best.
Louise, your joy just radiates. It is a wonderful photo, and he looks so content in your arms. I'm sure he can sense your love and he feels secure. Definitely looking forward to seeing more photos. Enjoy your time with little Ashton and your family. It is too precious to allow it to slip by.
What a darling! Such a lovely photo to cherish.
Hmmmmmmm! I can see Ken in that face :D
He will be pleased.
These times are so wonderful - drink them in Louise.
It feels like we've all got a new bay in the 365 family now :D
Oh Louise look at that little teeny tiny bundle of joy! I just bet that John and Ashley are loving all you are doing for them. Being new parents is so overwhelming and then to have to cook dinner and do laundry, that would tip anyone over the edge, thank goodness you are there. They may never want you to leave. :)
This is just beautiful, Louise! You are beaming! What wonderful grandparents you must be! I got to hold a one-week-old today, and I could have watched her (and listened) for hours...enjoy!
Congratulations to you - it is a great thing to be a grandmother and a great honor :)
When I got my first grandchild, I phoned even my daughter favorite school teacher and told a big new, she was amused about my enthusiasm but understood my happiness :) This granddaughter is now 15 but youngest of our six grandchildren is 11 months, so I am very needed all the time, which is such a lovely thing.
All the best to you and a sweet little one and all yours!
What a beautiful radiant grandma and sleeping baby portrait! We are looking forward to lots of Ashton pictures :-) Thanks for you comment on my purple post for yesterday!
He is the cutest wee dot and I'm loving your proud grandma face :) Grandparents are such important people in a grandchilds life after all 'A grandmother is a little bit parent, a little bit teacher, and a little bit best friend.'
Oh my, he is absolutely gorgeous!! New babies are so precious to begin with but when it's your own grandbaby, it's just the best feeling in the world! You nailed it on the being able to enjoy the new baby and not be so stressed out from that learning curve. Boy is it stressful being the parent of a newborn for the first time! Every little thing freaks you out because you just cannot be prepared for that real live baby!
When my daughter had her first baby there was an exploding diaper incident at the hospital and both she and her hubby were so freaked out by it that she decided to come home with me for a few days instead of going home and tackling it by herself. Before then the two of them thought they were totally prepared for this new little being. She ended up staying with me for about 5 days and was really in awe of how talented I was with being able to hold the baby and do other things at the same time LOL. I think that is the moment when she had a newfound appreciation of me, her mom. What a wonderful time when we all of a sudden become so brilliant and everything we have told them their whole lives, and all of the rules we had for them make sense.
Didn't mean to ramble but it seems I always do when I come to your page LOL. I think most of us totally understand that we are just not able to comment on every single picture of every single person on our friend list every day. I did try that once upon a time but I would literally never be able to leave my computer if I did that. I do my best but it just doesn't happen anymore. I treasure every visit from everyone but I will always feel bad that I can't visit back as often.
Enjoy that new grandbaby! Newborns are so very special and that stage only lasts for a microsecond.
i love this!! i had a baby almost 2 months ago (wow, time seriously flies!!), and i know exactly how important and how appreciated your role is!! i honestly don't think i would have survived the first couple weeks without grandma around =) CONGRATS!!!!!!!!
You do look very happy so I guess you're right...happiness is a tiny baby! New life is very special and reminds us of all our joys! Congratulations again on your grandchild!
Congrats again :) I never had grandparents growing up and that is something I saw all my friends get to experience and that I was sad that I did not get to enjoy. Your husband and you are going to impact your grandson's life more than you know. Congrats and adorable photo! :)
Yay! There is that sweetface in his Grandma's arms that I have been waiting for! This is SUCH a fantastic shot of you both Louise! It's funny, because I am looking at being an Aunt the same way that you are viewing being a grandmother...in terms of all of the pleasures of loving a baby...but being able to get your sleep and things of that nature. I am loving every minute that I get to spend with Jonah and am really appreciating learning from Brian & Lena with each step that they take to help us learn a little bit more so that we may be as loving and wonderful when we become parents. Congratulations again to you & your beautiful family!
So nice to once again see your smiling face and this time with your precious grandson Ashton in your arms. this brings back so many wonderful memories and believe me Grandma Louise ( I will only call you that today) you will treasure yours forever.
I'm SO behind in the times! I am SO friggin' happy for you and yours! Congratulations to the 9 millionth degree! I can't wait to have a baby of my own, though the sleepless nights are not something I look forward to...alllllllthough it will be oh so worth it, as I'm sure it is to your precious little one's mom and dad. BUT Grammy shall be available for mom and dad's nap time, no doubt! :D
i will definitely rake the leaves and jump into it with the kiddos....well, maybe me first 'cause they tend to run away with the leaves and just scatter them all over the place all over again. i just don't know if i'd be brave enough to have someone take a photo of me and post it up =) i'm terribly shy, you know. but come winter, when more than half of my face is covered by my scarf and hat, i'll surely post pics of me making snow angels and snowmen =)
Absolutly a wonderful photo, although you might look a teeensy bit proud ,
and that you should, even more than a teeensy bit. May the Lord just bless you richly .
Louise..thank you for your lovely comment. yes I agree with you...you haven't seen any pictures of this canal. The bay of Lake Simcoe at the south end of the lake has 3 canals and one river is flowing into the lake right here in mddle of town..I will upload a picture of this canal for you as I do have some taken at different times. I'm so pleased that you like to be called Grandma Louise and I'm sure Ashton will come up a name for you that will stick with you..whatever it might be and I'm also sure that you will let us know when the time comes.
Congratulations on your new little one. I would think that being a grandparent would have a learning curve of its own. Gorgeous picture of both of you.
i love, love, LOVE this photo of you and precious ashton!! just think of all the wonderful memories the two of you will make. grandmothers are so special--both my boys truly enjoy their time with their grandmothers. he is so blessed to have you!
He is so tiny! I love this picture of you two. It's so adorable! There is a picture of me and my grandmother when I was just a few days old and yours reminds me so much of it! Enjoy!
Heartbreakingly touching and joyful and perfect and blessed ...I could go on, but you get the idea: That's the best photo of the best event in the universe.
Congratulations on being Grandparents (again or first time ???) I am so far behind but very excited for you all, and know that when I see a photo like this - I smell the new baby smell, oh I am so green with envy Louise. God Bless him and his Parents and both sets of grandparents. Wonderful Photo.
Oh my Louise what a gorgeous portrait of you and little Ashton! So lovely to look back at these images and then to see what a wonderful young man he has grown into! Lucky lady with your beautiful grandchildren! Much love! Stay safe! Xx
