Prime Suspect... by Weezilou

Prime Suspect...

...it must have been a cat burglar...

By way of explanation, twice a year we have "Dumpster Day", so over the course of a week, people put out everything they want picked up. Behind that facade of "business as usual", it's a big free for all for Dumpster Divers! Even as we emptied the garage, cars began to drive slowly by. By the time I looked over my photos and went out to see if I could picture it better, nearly everything was gone!

The cat knows, but she isn't telling...
That is one fat cat! he must have been dumpster diving for himself!

@allie912 whoops...I think she wasn't that size when she first wandered into our yard 3 months ago... My daughter saw this picture and made the same comment...

LOL! What a great sequence!

I bet there are some awesome treasures to be found. Nice way of telling a story

Looking more closely at your pictures, I think I would claim that great chest. What treasures did it hold?
September 30th, 2011
we have the same type of thing here, but most of it is truly junk. it does amuse me to put things out and see how long they last!
September 30th, 2011
Haha! Great catch

It is a nice way to clear out the extras, and it is amazing how people will gather things. It works quite well.

Great capture :)

@allie912 That chest was once a $5 auction purchase...In the summer we kept it filled with cushions for the outdoor furniture, bbq equipment & birdseed. The garage roof leaked one winter & its now seen better days...

@chard I remember you once pictured your "dumpster day"... see, I pay attention...

That cat is huge!!!!!

How funny - that slow drive must be great fun to watch. I remember when we used to have those days in my childhood neighborhood.
September 30th, 2011
I've never heard of a Dumpster day, great idea and I like how your sequence tells the story.
September 30th, 2011
We don't have anything like that here, great idea.
September 30th, 2011
Good sleuthing, Louise. I think the cat was running reconnaissance.

Wonderful series of photos! I can just imagine everyone in town trading stuff twice a year...!
September 30th, 2011
Is that your Maui? She looks so big in that shot! We do the same thing with unwanted household items...in our urban area things don't stay on the street long at all. One person's 'trash' is definitely an other's treasure. :)

What a wonderful collage.
We have a week about twice a year like this.
Nothing lasts more that an hour or so & then at night - another group come along - definitely a great way to get rid of "stuff".
September 30th, 2011
I love it. Wonderful collage.
September 30th, 2011
lol this is awesome. I love that trunk!
September 30th, 2011
Looks guilty to me! That trunk is preety! I wouldn't have minded discovering that myself...
September 30th, 2011
LOVE this. Makes me think of the funniest video I've ever seen - originally from ABC news - about Dusty, cat burglar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDX7tevXO1E
September 30th, 2011
heheheheheehehe this is fantastic! love how you set it up and that you put time stamps on each shot. I know I've said it before, but I LOVE your neighborhood! so cozy and quaint and the houses are divine. :)
September 30th, 2011
@reba That video was awesome...and to think they caught Dusty in the act! What a *big personality* to be known like that throughout the neighborhood! Gorgeous cat! Thanks for sharing!

Great series! Perhaps the cat was looking for a new "bedroom"
October 1st, 2011
Oh wow I could already see how I could have used that stuff for photography props!!!! I want that chest
October 1st, 2011
That's quite a series. Cute idea to use the times.

I wish we had dumpster days in the uk, we just dig big holes and fill em in with all our unwanted, I'm sure some guys in the future will thank us for stuffing up the planet. Good pics though.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! I *love* the up-for-grabs that show up by our dumpsters. We now have an email ring called Free Cycle and one can list things that they would normally toss that someone else might want ...
October 1st, 2011
great storyboard... yes the cat does appear to be the prime suspect amazing what they are up to when they think we don't see...
October 3rd, 2011

October 4th, 2011
