Not two weeks ago I photographed the first color turning on this tree http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2011-10-01 and I knew it would be glorious by the time we packed our bags. I hadn't considered it would make a wonderful backdrop for our friends who visited us on our last day here. They're from Georgia and are taking a "Fall Colors Cruise", docked in Halifax for the day, so they drove down to see us. We gave them a whirlwind tour and had lunch where two of them ordered the lobster but I didn't go all out as we still have a dinner invitation in a few more hours...
It felt really good to see the town one last time through the eyes of newcomers and to enjoy sharing the beauty of this charming location we chose for our summer home. I've just got last-minute items to drop into the suitcase...everything's in order and there's nothing left to do but wait as the hours count down...
You might enjoy this song that I can't get out of my head...it's sung a lot up here and I'll carry it home with me as I close the door and head south...
The tree is looking radiant and your friends look delightful. Sounds like a wonderful time was had by all. Hope you get your lobster tonight. :) Farewell Nova Scotia...till next summer, eh?
@suelbiz47 Tomorrow night, Chicago! Ashton turns one on Sunday...where did Year One go?! Expect a photo or two of him, and I'll be seeing some of the "old timer 365ers" as well, so stay tuned!
@Weezilou Okay, now I'm excited... :-) One year old?!!! That just doesn't seem possible. Do you think time moves even faster when you're older? Maybe it's always been that way but I was too busy raising a family to notice until now.
@suelbiz47 It must have been like "not seeing the trees for the forest"...Like you, in the midst of raising a family I didn't see the time flying by. Now, from a little distance, I'm shocked at how quickly time is passing. Appreciate everyday...I'm beginning to think it's never going to be long enough!
So beautiful !!! Sorry ive been away for a long. We are moving the first of Nov. and have been staying at my parents house for a while. So i dont have my pc right now. I am also getting ready to start radiation the first of Nov. I hope to get back to this soon and post pics too. I really enjoy your photos and stories. Hope you have a safe trip back home. Bless You !!
That's a wonderful photo Louise, and might I ask, do you ever get tired of packing and unpacking as you move around? Just curious. It seems like it would be so much work, and so tiring.
Farewell to Nova Scotia, you sea-bound coast
Let your mountains dark and dreary be
For when I am far away on the briny ocean tossed
Will you ever heave a sigh and a wish for me?
ALways a sad time when you leave, but rejoice in knowing it will not be long 'til you are back. As always, thanks for sharing, and I am looking forward to that cook out next summer :)
Dear Louise, I'm just catching up with old friends. Hope by now you are settled back in your 'winter' home. I felt quite sad as i read your last couple of posts about leaving lunenberg.I can't believe your grandson has turned one already..I remember how we all waited for your news! I'm coming to the end of my second year now and am considering what, if anything to do here next year. I will always remember your encouragement, humour and love to us all. x from acros the pond!
You were absolutely right..this tree now i full color is beautiful and framing your sommer home so nicely..when the time comes have a safe trip back home.
I really miss 'speaking with you'. I've been absent from 365 for a while and noticed you have also been gone. I do hope life is being good to you, Ken, and your fur kids. I have experienced a plethora of, mostly negative, life altering events which have been very demanding. Also, I misplaced your email but would love to connect again. I could use a dose of your positive attitude and point of view. I am planning a May road trip vacation. I will definately be out in California and would like to meet the two of you, if you are there when I come through. (jd2b2k1@msn.com)
@Weezilou Since Bob retired a few months ago, we're thinking of some traveling that we want to do. Do you recommend the cruise that you just finished? Could we have your recommendations? I look forward to your postings from NS this summer!
@billjohnson I'm likely to pick back up this summer when we go to Nova Scotia... So much more there to photograph. Glad to see you back on the block and I'm looking forward to reconnecting with old friends. My best to you!
Love the song.
Have a safe trip home.

Do hope all is well with you and yours.
