AfterLunenburg's big fire on Friday night, I returned at 7:30 the next morning for photos of the aftermath, the completion of my personal photo-journal story. I'd heard more than 16 fire companies had come to the scene, some from as far as 90 minutes away. The building still stood, but with only charred remains of a roof, interior flooding, and a sad conclusion for a 100 year old structure.
I walked to the end of the pier and behind the outermost building by the water's edge, I saw this, and a feeling came over me. The fire had been contained and our town filled with historic wooden structures was spared any further damage. All those men and women who left the dinner table to come spend the evening fighting the blaze were angels in disguise. You might not have seen their wings, but their presence was unmistakable...
Angels indeed! That could have been an absolute disaster for historic Lunenburg if not for the quick and efficient action of those fire fighters! Marvelous tribute shot.
Your pictures of a tragic event were certainly showcased nicely on CTV and GLOBAL news. And to be part of the interview. Thankfully we have these angels risking their lives to do this type of work. So nice to have seen you
That's wild! Just this past week, a friend related a story about the loss of her mother in a house fire. When she and her sisters returned to tour the badly damaged house with the firemen before they tore it down, they discovered a pile of white feathers on what had been her mother's bed, right where her head would have lain. Ever since then, she has experienced seeing white feathers in her life when she most needs to be comforted or reassured, and is convinced they are a sign of her mother...her guardian angel.
