Unbelievable series of events continue to happen here! I'll leave you the story at a later hour...how I came to be nearby as it began and what happened. Ken & I returned at 7:30 this morning to finish the photo story I'd begun, and I ended up telling it to another news camera man! That will be on Global News at 6 tonight (Sat). I've also been in touch with CTVnews.ca and some of my pictures will be on their web site, so you'll see much more than my one-photo-a-day. It's been a combination of sad (for the town), but fascinating to see a little of how the news works...and all those volunteer firemen from 16 companies here as well!
See the news coverage here, story and my news photos & interview (I started a thread to hold it all... I especially thought Canadians might be interested, but I wish I'd remembered to add "Nova Scotia"!
@ellen@chard Thanks guys! Nice to hear from two good friends! It's been an amazing 24 hours! My pictures were on the front page of http://atlantic.ctvnews.ca/ tonight & the lead photo on tonight's Global News (television) was mine + the interview. I've gotten phone calls from two newspapers...I'm excited to be able to share my pictures in such a big way! I'll need some big suitcases to carry home all the summer memories!
@LindaC Thanks Linda! It is really sad to lose one of the iconic red waterfront buildings. I really can't speculate what will take its place, but I'm glad I have photo documentation of its existence
. @chard Thanks...immodestly I have to say it's pretty cool :) Nice to see something for all the persistent work!
@kerristephens@ellen@chard@LindaC While maybe this is only really noteworthy to me, I hated to see it passed over as it's a major news story reported from Victoria, BC to Toronto & Halifax. After I found the story & interview by the reporter I met this morning I wanted to share with a larger audience on 365, but you'd stopped by & I wanted to tell you personally http://globalnews.ca/video/870206/lunenburg-fire Thanks
Wow, so did they offer you a reporting photo job? Wow, how lucky that they contained it and the food store didn't go up and they saved the boats. Great shots by you, well done. You must not have gotten much sleep that night!! Great shots for sure!!
Wow! I checked out all the links...a fantastic job of photojournalism, Louise! And I echo the praise of residents and witnesses for the amazing job by local firefighters in containing the blaze.
. @chard Thanks...immodestly I have to say it's pretty cool :) Nice to see something for all the persistent work!
Perhaps you two know one another?
