...can you find the Diamond that's set in this photo?
Upon entering St John's church to show it to our visiting friends, organ music filled the space and I turned on my video to capture it! I was turning my camera around the room and at the church loft in back, and then, over my shoulder I saw a man with a smile on his face, playing his heart out! (He's framed by the stained glass window.)
If you're of a mind to have a look-and-listen, I posted a video that tells the rest of the heartfelt story. It's only a nugget of information about this man, this church and the town it's all set in.
I'll call this #6 on my Local Wonder challenge: Local Person... He's James Aulenbach whose family arrived here in 1789. A self-proclaimed anomaly, he said he's a Mormon who's sung in Salt Lake City with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. ...wow... What a find, wouldn't you say?!
I must say, I may be old fashion, but I absolutely love organ music. It is something I grew up with and it has always remained a favorite for me. I loved your video, and of course the music of choice.
@digitalrn I'll be sure to let you know when I gather together a video of him playing "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art"... I'm like you, it's the most enveloping and soul-touching music when played in a venue like that!
Wow that is amazing. I will have to share this with my father-in-law who is an accomplished organist and he will truly appreciate this. thanks for sharing this with all of us
@bkbinthecity@digitalrn It thrills my heart to have reached some people who love this as I do! I saw James tonight at a symphony concert in that same setting...and tonight the church was filled to overflowing. Can you believe my luck that the front pews were all empty? I can't wait to have time to go through the pictures I took! Thanks for coming by!
