I had to have another peek this morning and was amazed to see that baby STILL sitting on the side of the nest. This was the second photo I took...on the third I captured the underside of his neck as he looked up...and he was gone! He flew quite skillfully just a few feet to a Cyprus tree...then Mom came buzzing around to check out the situation. Perhaps this little one has been making some solo flights and returning to be fed.
I know I've posted a lot of these hummingbird photos, but I feel you've enjoyed this journey with me. Thank you for the faves along the way. As this may be a parting shot, I did a little house cleaning to make the going-away party more presentable. xo
@paul2782 Thank you immensely, Paul! To you and those who've been following this little saga,

@tjchapa Julie, I wasn't more than 2 feet from the nest , standing on the ground just below it, A few days earlier, I stood on a chair to get a higher angle, and when I came inside with my picture, my husband showed me the one he had taken of me (taking the picture!) Actually, I was quite happy to have that picture because you can see how close I was standing!
