Though it's only 8 minutes away, I finally made it to the beach at sunset! In under an hour, I took about 700 photos...people walking along the water's edge, pelicans flying by, the wave sets coming in close together, making for great texture, the light ever changing, and with each change, I thought I'd caught it at its best. But after sunset, the clouds grew an amazing shade of peach and tangerine, casting a rosy pink on the clouds behind me. I've only just begun to look through my photos, and once again, I'd love to continue to take all my photos at this time of day.
In short, I ended up with about 700 variations on this beach scene but it's now after midnight, so it was a matter of saying, "I'll go with this one..." I got in the coloration, some long shadows and the photographer's tripod with camera. But here's the best part. A bit earlier I asked if I might get some photos using their silhouette as he took his pictures. They said I could, and when I detected an accent, I asked where they were visiting from. Their home is Apeldroon, Holland and they were in town for just a day, continuing up the coast to end their vacation in San Francisco before flying home. He wanted to know if photography was my hobby, so I told him about 365. He said he'd heard of it, so I wrote my site down for them. When we said goodbye as the light faded, I suggested he put his vacation photos on the site and he said he might. I hope he will, and finds their photo here. It was very nice to meet them and a great night for sunset photos!
If I might do a promotion here, my daughter, Heather, rejoined 365; she's the one who suggested I join back in 2010. You may remember her.
http://365project.org/chicago_heather/365 She's a talented artist, a wonderful photographer and "Mommy" with her partner, Tina, to our grandson, Bodhi. If you have a minute, won't you drop by to welcome her back? (Thank you...I knew I could count on you ;)
We've had crazy-fun-filled days up here, but little time to stop to see as many photos as I'd like. You know you can count on me, too, and I'll catch up when I'm back home in my Peaceable Kingdom ♥
Hey, anyway, I have another possible art project for us. I took a photo of my oven top a few weeks ago. It looked kind of like a planetscape. Well, I have played with some settings, but I am looking for some more inspiration. A friend of mine suggested I try to make a Flash Gordon like comic book scene out it. I think you will see the similarities when you look at the photo. There are red dots that are part of the oven, but it looks like the pointilism you used to see in old comic book strips.
So, any ideas? https://www.flickr.com/photos/adambralston/14274073983/
