My day was not at all as bleak as my image and title might imply! The clouds of last night's magnificent sunset gave way to rolling thunder this morning and intermittent rain over the course of the afternoon. It wasn't nearly the amount we need to stop the drought and fires. My few attempts at outdoor photos were thwarted and my choices were few, but it opened the opportunity to play with my new Photo Effects package I got for free, thanks to an offer on a thread here. Of course, hooked, I now think I need to purchase the rest of the "suite"... (Clever buggers...)
Yes, as the bait dangles out in front of you, a little nibble here and there seems so harmless until they give it a quick tug to set the hook, and they have you. I love this image, and being in B/W is a nice change. Beauty can be enjoyed in any shape or color
Thank you for this image and reminding me of the Longfellow poem, "The Rainy Day" which I had to look up to find this familiar line whose source eluded me.
"Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary."
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Mom, your editing is pretty great here! All I can think when I see this is how very Mrs Havisham, which is a compliment because you know how much I loved the twisted, bizarre, and unusual characters ;)
I really, really like this! @raymondb came up with the words I couldn't think of — looks like stone! Fav for the chiseled quality you've given the ever-delicate rose.
"Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary."
