What a wonderful capture -- love the way it honors the history of literacy, yet has the very fine lines of cobwebs, which must be a metaphor for something, given today's testing obsession!
A really lovely statue . you can see the concentration in that sweet little face.I know what you mean about time slipping by. looking back on 365 I see you were my first follower. now several years later !!!
@taffy You went deeper than I did... At first I thought abut how one becomes engrossed in a book and times passes quickly... then I saw it metaphorically as the passage of time when we're busy and not paying attention... I know you meant "texting obsession", and about that, I could write a dissertation! (An inability to write a properly structured sentence, a lack of depth in a conversation, the falling away of interpersonal relationships...it pains me whenever I see it happening...and it's no longer just teenagers! I'll wrap with the comment a friend shared about not being able to speak with her grown children ( in their late 30s+) if she didn't text with them. Tragedy and travesty is all I could think... I hope I didn't step on any toes, but there you have it from my corner of the world!
@snowy Oh Diana, how you made me smile with that recollection! I was following Helen when she said you'd come on board. I recall a photo of you in a broad brimmed hat if I'm correct. Anyway, I thought you looked charming and every inch an English Lady. I'm delighted I was there from the beginning with you...your photos have delighted me, your home and lifestyle have charmed me, and I'll forever treasure my lily of the valley you sent me :)
I like the close framing you did with this statue. The DOF is perfect too with much of the little reader in focus but all the background beautifully blurred. Sometimes I find myself so engrossed in a book I realize I've not moved for a long while. You know it's a good book when your attention has been held for so long.
And yes, the macaw is really mine. He's been with me now for 10 years, having been adopted from someone who could no longer care for him due to health issues. He's 18 now but still very much like a happy 3 year old; full of questions, in need of being entertained, and cuddled as well.
@dgrynn@taffy@snowy@lyndemc@pyrrhula@digitalrn Hi to all of you! I have a special & somewhat unorthodox favor (favour) to ask... While Ken shares the name here, he's seldom on, but helps me immensely and I speak of all of you often. Tomorrow (June 1) is his birthday, and it would be awesome if you'd each send an email to him...doesn't need to be more than the words "Happy Birthday". He'd be amazed and get such a kick out of that! Thanks in advance; you're all pretty special to me! He's kenmuenstermann@gmail.com
