...so I realized I'd never even looked at the photos from this date until tonight! I had some "good enough" ones, but you know how it is...start playing...fall down a rabbit hole...
Care to hazard a guess how and where this photo began? It just spoke to me of tiny little bell-like voices raised in song on a winter's night...
(...I met friends at 3 his afternoon for coffee in town...the shop dressed to the nines for Christmas with carols playing! This won't happen in the states until after Thanksgiving on the 27th!)
This is a beautiful composite. I'm still not sure whether it is a photo you saw while having coffee or whether you composed it yourself. It takes me back to when I conducted a children's choir for some years. Our Christmas work was some of the most enjoyable of all.
@ethelperry Fair enough...
Hint #1: It's one photo to which I added sheet music and some Picmonkey wintry flourishes...
Ethel, you are a lady with whom I'd love to visit at length! A new talent emerges that was hidden from us! A conductor! Truly, isn't the Christmas music what we all love the most? It infuses in our bones from earliest childhood!
@Weezilou Ah! that makes me like it all the more - so creative. I so agree about Christmas music, and as our forbears came from Europe/UK we still sing the wintry type carols, although it is often very hot weather. some Australian Carols have been written but are not very well known,
I have always found it a pleasure to work with children - we had Christmas plays, some of which I wrote.....oh dear you've tapped into some happy memories.
@ethelperry ...add to the talent: Writes Plays...
Ethel, you're something pretty special! Yes, I know about the warm Australian winters...we have friend in Sydney (Carlingford) and another good friend in Moruya. Because we've visited them during our summers, we had the pleasure of expriencing "Christmas in July", which I loved! I'd even planned such a party this summer, but it never came together...perhaps another year! I'm delighted to hand you the gift of "Happy Memories"! I've received it a time or two as well... :-)
@chard As an American, I couldn't agree more! Should the the weekend after Thanksgiving! Over coffee, the Canadians were complaining that some chain stores were ready for Christmas before Remembrance Day... However, now that that has passed, Christmas is fair game!
Another good one. Whereas I agree that Canada decorates for Christmas earlier, I heard my first Christmas song today while at the AT&T service center. The subdivisions around have turned on their lights, too.
This is amazing given the original composition! :) Love it!
Just for the record, stores have been blaring Christmas songs before Halloween. They no longer wait until after Thanksgiving. That really annoys me!
Personally, I've been singing Christmas songs for quite some time already this year. My first holiday performance is next Monday night. My voice, after tonight's rehearsal, is quite tired. O Holy Night is one we practiced in readiness for the season! Yep...I sang again when I saw this!
@scarybird After I got the sheet music I wanted off the Internet/G-Images, I changed the colour to blend with the background. That done, all the rest is with Picmonekey...snow, border and text lettering...quick enough if you don't get side tracked playing around! (Oh, I changed the colour to "cold/more blue" somehow...) Have fun, and of course the Mrs wants to use one of your photos!
@_catherine_ Well thank you for the sweet compliment! When all is said and done, the card with probably represent time spent with the grand kids in Chicago and California...they're on notice I'm expecting some family photos!
The only reason I know where this originated is because I saw the previous post and I knew you would do a bang-up job. Very nice, and I must tell you that yesterday I hopped in my car to run some errands and turned on my local station we always listen to and bingo, they are now all Christmas music until after the holidays.
@scarybird The dusting of snow and that border would look quite wonderful over many sorts of photos, I'd think! It would be fun if, when finished, people might share their photo greetings under one tag...well, probably "cards"...or "Christmascard14"...
@_catherine_ Steve and I have been swapping notes, and it would be fun to see the cards people are sending this year! This won't be mine, but it gets the ball rolling! If you do one, tag it "christmascard14" and we all can share!
@Weezilou@scarybird Great idea Weezi and Steve. Of course I'll have to think of a way to create a sprinkling of snow as it's summer down here in deep dark Africa! (Any suggestions?) But count me in
Mmm...the idea of cards has me realizing I have to get mine out early this year as I skipped last year entirely and now we have a different address! Ahhhh....and I was just starting to relax!!
