My neighbor has this little gal nesting just an arm's length outside her dining room window and she asked if I'd come photograph her and the babies. The little ones are still small enough to follow mother's instructions and not pop up, as she flew away from the nest to distract us.
It worked, and Plan 2 didn't turn out badly either!
@judithdeacon Thanks Judith! The background was very fussy with branches and brush, so I was just having a play-time before deciding "why not post it!" Thanks for the fave!
@kwind@tunia@hbdaly@photographycrazy Thank you all! I could spend hours playing like this...and as soon as I think I'm through, I see more changes to make, but enough is enough! Next picture!
@pamknowler I could add: see what I just said above! She was going to sit there until we left, also just a few feet away, but clearly distracting us from looking at her nest! Thanks for your always enthusiastic words!
Great processing! What a beautiful, artistic image of the sweet Mama hummingbird. Her instinct to protect her nest is quite amazing. How wonderful that your neighbor has the nest so near, and what fun it will be to witness the miraculous nesting process!
@janetb Oh Janet, thanks so much for the comments! Helen was delighted that I took some pictures for her yesterday, and when the babies are larger, and sant hide so easily, I'll return "to respectably" garner another photo or two! I hope 'Mama' knows how much I'd appreciate that!
@bizziebeeme@radiogirl@danette@gaylewood Thank you all...it was all for the fun of time to play with the software most of us are using. It's been lovely to have the time!
@kevin365 Oh Kevin, the ones at rest are the easiest to capture! Perhaps because I often know I'm photographing nesting hummers, as this one is, they sit still and distract (thank you very much little Lady!) The one in my own yard...now we're friends, and she often comes parading by with that noticeable "swoosh" and it's a pleasure to have her company : ) (I'm no Disney Princess...The ones in Lunenburg are the dickens to try to photograph! Perhaps we haven't been properly introduced!)
@judithdeacon@kwind@gaylewood@kevin365@francoise Thank you all for faving this sweet little gal! I'm often amazed at what hits the PP, but I'm also always pleased that I was able to make a connection with each of you!
