New Tricks

Each night I set out a plate of cat food, topped with a marshmallow.

By the time I looked out, the little treat was gone.

I called out, "Marshmallow! ...marshmallow!"

Back inside, a few minutes later, there he was, sitting up and looking in...

Camera! Roll 'em! Ta rah rah boom de eh!
Racoons like the word 'marshmallow'! Sounds like 'food fella's" Again I like the human arm in to see how big these 'fellas' are! fav

Love raccoons....I have some in the woods in back of my house, but with a big dog, she keeps them away.

And now you've taught him to sit up. What's next, shake hands? Great capture!

@stray_shooter ..Tap Dance... He's got the whole hand thing going for "shuffle off to Buffalo"... And tell me, do you have any lessons planned for the wee ones outside your front door?!

When I was a child (you know back in the time before electricity-lol) we went camping. One of the things that we did was go to the local dump to watch the animals feed at night including the bears. We were in the car of course and I took tootsie rolls to feed to the raccoons. They loved them but so funny to watch them eating them.

@stray_shooter Having seen that you're on the road, I suppose we're going to miss the "Ages and Stages"... Bummer!

@joansmor What a delightful story, Joan! Being of the same era, I recall driving through Yellowstone with the windows rolled down so the bears could come up to the car!!! (that was about 1953) I love reading that yous folks were so clever as to know the animals would be at the dump! And Tootsie Rolls! Oh, I can easily imagine their joy at receiving the sweet treat and the difficulty in chewing them!! Great story!

@Weezilou We were camping and word spreads in camp grounds. The scary time was the night I woke up and a bear was passing outside the tent under the yawning. I just lay as quiet as I could. Glad my parents paid attention to the warnings to keep all food in the car.

You are definitely an animal whisperer. What a lucky racoon to have the food laid on for him
