Melodious Morning by Weezilou

Melodious Morning

I'm such a fan of all the musical venues to be had here in Nova Scotia, and Cecilia's Retreat is a very special one. In the home of the Program Director of "Musique Royale", small gatherings are presented to fewer than 50 people. On this day the duo of Greenberg-MacPhee played music of Cape Breton.

"Today's program is a feast of tasty traditional tunes both old and new... Both musicians are known for bringing to life the sound and spirit of Capr Breton musical greats of old, and for digging deep into the treasure-laden books from Scotland to find great melodies that haven't been heard for hundreds of years. David and Doug also enrich their program with their own joyous compositions. And, if the mood is right, David may play some solo Bach or other baroque violin music..."

An hour of excellent music would be well worth the price of admission... But a meal is served as well... salads, pasta, barbecued pork tenderloin & chicken legs, bread, blueberry cake and apple crisp! There's always wine, tea & coffee as well. And here we are, *after lunch* when David & Doug sat down and played for another hour! Price, $35!

With a wide variety of music several times a week, what's not to love about living here?!
Super clarity in this shot...sounds like wonderful listen

Wonderful capture and equally wonderful commentary! Your love and appreciation of music shines through. What a fun event! And all for $35? Wow!

@janetb Barbara Butler, the director for many music venues around Nova Scotia gets funding to bring the music to many for an affordable price! It certainly beats the top $ venues in So California! We enjoy as much as we can while we're here! Thanks for your note, Janet!

@seattlite Thanks Gloria! I'm always delighted to discover an unused preset that breathes a little life into a photo!

Lovely image and processing.

Love the processing

Sounds very much like a 'house concert' or 'home concert' . . . I've been to a few and definitely enjoyed the experience. A unique way to experience a complete concert performance with professional musicians in a comfortable, small-scale setting. Wonderful capture of these musicians! :-)

This is such a nice capture Louise. Has a bit of a Norman Rockwell theme to it.....a Canadian version of Rockwell, of course!

I love your enthusiastic way to describe the event and your shot and processing!

Seems like a great event! Nicely captured too.

@kwind @365projectlinda Thank you both! It's fun to find a previously-unused preset that could possibly become a new favourite!

@gaylewood Thanks for the perfect description! I'll use that from here-on! We've been here when up to 4 performers are putting on a concert, and the acoustics are wonderful in so small a space!

@stray_shooter Thanks, Ron! I thought the same thing about the processing...plan to use it more as it's quite suited to the way I feel about the people here!

@frappa77 Thank you Francesca! Shame on me if I can't be enthusiastic about people who share their talent in this fashion!

@jamibann Everything we've attended here has been exceptional! Ken tells me that I tend to emote, but to my mind, how can I not?!

i would need a nap after that lunch, then maybe music.

you are so lucky to have so much music around you. I agree wth Ron it reminded me a bit of Norman Rockwell too. I think you will have a lot of fun with that camera setting

@chard It does make for the start of a lazy afternoon!

@cruiser We *are* very fortunate, Chris, and I don't take that for granted! I'm about to post the next day's photo...and here comes more music of a very different sort! (Thanks about the setting...I like it, too!)

Excellent capture of this duo. The evening of music and food sounds very enjoyable and satisfying. Glad you have so much to partake of there.

Weird and wonderful!!

I always admire people who can play musical instruments, I wouldn't know the key of C if it bit me.
