This delightful young man, "BJ", is in town to learn some new music techniques, but when he heard we were going to host a dinner for all five of the students tonight, he asked if he might make an apple pie! I love to bake, but pie, (Ken's favourite dessert!) is my least strong suit, so we took him shopping at the farm market for some heritage apples (as he requested) and gave him everything he needed out in the kitchen! Can you believe what he made for us?! I'm here to tell you that, hands down, that was *The BEST Pie Crust* I have ever eaten! I heard him telling his friends about how he needed to keep the butter cold so it would melt in the baking crust, making thin layers of flaky pastry! He's not new to this. He learned from his grandfather, and can make any sort of pie. For events, he's made up to ten pies at a time!
As we emoted over our hot-from-the-oven dessert (with vanilla ice cream, of course!), he told us it would be a dream of his to have a pie shop that hosted classical musicians.
I'm saving for a plane ticket so I can be there for the Grand Opening!
(BJ is from Texas, but currently studying at McGill in Montreal).
And I'm simply blown away that so many of you faved last night's picture of these terrific musicians! Thank you for throwing your support to their silhouettes! I love to see accolades thrown to talented and aspiring young people!
