Little Bugger ... ♥ by Weezilou

Little Bugger ... ♥

When Ashley went to her car, she saw it has been badly messed by a bird. She looked up, and there sat the culprit! Ken called me to come out with the camera, and I got some sweet photos of this young'n!

He was in no hurry to leave, but when he did, Ash and the boys washed her car... it was a good Saturday morning chore and what kids don't like to have charge of the hose?!
I wonder why he was staying here for so long! Just waiting for you?

@maggiemae This area has a lot of hawks, but usually we see them in flight! I think he wanted "baby photos"!

I am presently reading H is for Hawk written by Helen Macdonald, a young Englishwoman working out her grief at the death of her father by training a goshawk. It is beautifully written and a most unusual story.

And of course I meant to say I loved your approach here and the brilliant colors.

Yowza! grear closeup.

@allie912 I think it's always a delight when a photo resonates with us the way this did with you! That's the best compliment I might receive, so thanks for the double appreciation!

@pcarlaw Thanks Peggy! I did crop this a little to come in closer. His eyes were amazing!

How lovely that he came to say hello and stayed to have his photo taken! I bet the boys had fun with the hose!

@pamknowler haha..."crazy spray" is what little boys do! It does make for pretty pictures with the sun coming through it! (middle of the night?)
March 12th, 2017
Looks like some kind of hawk so I am guessing that it made a "BIG" mess on her car.
March 12th, 2017
@Weezilou yes 3am! Finlay had tummy ache! Now I am wide awake!
March 12th, 2017
Haha! Great narrative as well as photo. They do make a mess, don't they??
March 12th, 2017
@skipt07 Most definitely a hawk, Skip...it had amazingly huge eyes and a very sharp beak!

@aglennc We all know how messy babies can be!

@pamknowler You, Pam, are the mother of a child! Ashley said she read a compilation of comments about motherhood, and the one she mentioned to us was, "Did you stop to consider what it would be like to be awakened at 4:30 and asked what the opposite of "J" looked like?"

...or you can have a dog!
March 12th, 2017
@Weezilou I suppose I missed the night time feeds not having had a baby and could laugh at my friends! Now I am getting payback! Lol!
March 12th, 2017
Hi Louise! Neat shot! Looks like a Red Shouldered Hawk to me, but hard to tell from this angle.
March 12th, 2017
@laurieewilson I'll work off of that to see if I can find out more! I never heard of that type, but we're just south of Sta Barbara, and the species here are different than down the coast! Thanks for the assist!
March 12th, 2017
@Weezilou Red Shoulder Hawk could be there....they have black and white on their backs. Red head and shoulders.
March 12th, 2017
@laurieewilson I just looked at my other photos and yes, he IS B&W on his back! The tail has perfect black with narrower white stripes, and his back is covered with black and white bars/bands, but not as presize as the tail! I love that you were able to help me oput! This is terrific information! THANK YOU!

@Weezilou precise... to be exact ;-)

Sounds good fun to me
March 12th, 2017
Lovely shot!
March 12th, 2017
Great shot. He looks beautiful and proud.
March 12th, 2017
Is it just me or does the tree really look like a knee in front and arm/hand in back? He's a beautiful hawk. Children washing the car always means a lot more than the car gets soaked. Sweet times!
March 12th, 2017
Fabulous capture and how lucky he wanted to pose just for you. :)
March 12th, 2017
Ha ha, cheeky thing! Hopefully you didn't scare it and make it have any more "accidents" over the car!!
March 12th, 2017
He's looking at you!

I accidentally parked under a tree at Dad's the other week - birds and cars are not a good mix!
March 12th, 2017
Nice pov!!
March 12th, 2017
Great shot.
March 12th, 2017
Great capture :)
March 12th, 2017
Yuck. We have the same trouble here when they perch on the power-line across our drive.
March 13th, 2017
Great capture
March 13th, 2017
wow, what an incredible shot, so many details! i am so impressed.
March 13th, 2017
What fun! To watch this fabulous bird and to watch kids having fun with a hose! Surely, smiles were all around. I know I have one at just the thought. :)
March 13th, 2017
Amazing capture!
March 14th, 2017
guess he got the attention he wanted! :-)
March 14th, 2017
@summerfield haha... We knew exactly where to look for him! @louannwarren There you go with your artistic eye! I love the immensely tall eucalyptus as they do get some wonderful joints! I can easily see what it is you're seeing here!
March 14th, 2017
He looking like, "Yeah I did that. What ya gonna do about it?" They have such confidence. Haha. Awesome upward capture!
March 14th, 2017
GReat shot of the bird against a beautiful blue sky. You did you job quick . I thought you needed a month at last.
March 22nd, 2017
@pyrrhula I did get right to that project! I needed the presents as soon as possible (we say, "A.S.A.P.!") I was delighted to receive the invitation to join the group at this fabulous zoo, so now, back to my favorite community!
